CSUN Softball Player Released From Hospital
Cal State Northridge softball player Shelby Wilcox was released Wednesday from Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo.
Wilcox, 20, suffered a skull fracture, a shattered right thigh bone and a broken right hand in a car accident Friday night in Morro Bay.
She lost consciousness for nearly 24 hours and spent three days in intensive care.
“She’s feeling much better,” CSUN softball Coach Janet Sherman said. “She was up on crutches and just wants to get home.”
Wilcox was driven in a van to her parents’ house in Fresno after her release from the hospital.
Wilcox was the passenger in teammate Traci Gallian’s car when it was hit almost head-on by a drunk driver in a pickup truck.
Gallian, 19, suffered a broken collarbone and was released from the hospital on Saturday.
“Traci is doing great,” Sherman said. “The last time we talked she almost sounded like herself. She’s getting there.”
