TUSTIN : Reception to Welcome New School Trustees

Before taking the oath of office, school trustees-elect Jane Bauer, Jonathan W. Abelove and Gail Michelsen will be honored at a reception Monday at the Fellowship Hall of the Tustin Presbyterian Church.

Members of the public are invited to attend the 6 p.m. event, hosted by the Tustin Unified School District. The church is at Main and C streets.

Following the reception, Bauer, Abelove and Michelsen will be sworn in during the school board meeting at 7 p.m. at the district’s Administration Center, 300 S. C St.

Bauer, a tax attorney, is returning for a third four-year term. She has served on the board since 1985. It will be the first time on the board for Abelove, a business owner, who will serve for four years. Michelsen, a computer products manager, won a two-year seat. She also is serving her first term.

They will join Todd Ferguson and Merlin L. Henry Jr. on the five-member board, which oversees 10 elementary schools, four middle schools and three high schools with more than 12,811 students and serves Tustin, north Tustin and portions of Santa Ana and Irvine.
