Datron Sells 2nd of 2 Lines Produced in Simi
Datron Systems Inc., which last year closed a plant in Camarillo, has sold the second of two switch product lines that were produced at the firm’s facility in Simi Valley.
The sale, completed last month, will take Datron out of making electromechanical switches for the military, the company said.
William L. Stephan, Datron’s chief financial officer, said the purchaser, K & L Microwave, a unit of Dover Corp., paid $1.1 million for the unit.
“It was a small operation,†he said. “If there are any layoffs, they will be minimal.â€
The sale was part of a program to reduce Datron’s dependence on defense contracts, Stephan said. He said the Simi Valley plant has 220 employees.
Datron, which produces satellite ground stations and high-tech radios, moved its corporate headquarters from Simi Valley to Escondido last year.
