OUTLOOK
Swanson is still looking for that 200th career victory after getting only two last season. He likes the makeup of this year’s squad even though the Lancers graduated Tom Howard and Tony Risberg, who were their top two scorers. “We’re going after everybody this season and we have a good preseason to warm us up,” he said. Orange Lutheran played host to its own tournament to start the season and also participates in the tough Orange Holiday Classic in mid-December. Swanson is impressed with his team’s work ethic, and several players who never played last year will get ample playing time this season. Meaux was the 15th man on the team a year ago, but he has locked up the point guard position this season. The rest of the players are battling for the four remaining starting spots. Taube averaged 4.3 points last year and is the only returning starter, but he has some competition for the job from Bagatourian and Madsen. Watson is concerned about his team’s size and rebounding ability.
