A 39-year-old Santa Paula man is being held at Ventura County Jail on suspicion of recklessly discharging a firearm after two men were wounded at a weekend party, Santa Paula police said Sunday.
Police arrested Pablo Navarette Acevedo at a house in the 100 block of Santa Ana Street about 8:15 p.m. Saturday after responding to a report of fighting and shots being fired at the residence, police said.
Two unidentified men were injured in the shooting, according to police.
Witnesses told police that Acevedo started firing a gun during a fight at the party Saturday night, striking one man in the leg. Another man suffered a hand injury while attempting to disarm the suspect, police said.
The condition of the men was not available Sunday.
Acevedo is being held on charges of discharging a firearm with gross negligence and willfully resisting arrest, a jail commander said Sunday. He is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Ventura County Municipal Court on Tuesday.
