Two freshman basketball players have been suspended for the season by Loyola Marymount.
Terryl Woolery, a 6-foot-4 guard from Fairfax High, and Will Jones, a 6-5 forward from Chicago, were suspended for “violation of the University’s Student Conduct Code,” according to a statement released by the school.
Neither played Sunday night in the Lions’ 111-83 exhibition victory over Blue and Gold Fleet at Loyola.
Coach John Olive could not be reached for comment.
Two weeks ago, Olive called Woolery “a steal,” adding: “He’s going to be a very, very talented player.”
Woolery was an All-City pick last season at Fairfax, averaging 16.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists. Jones averaged 10.8 points and 6.4 rebounds at Chicago Mt. Carmel High.
