OUTLOOK
“Our goal is to finish in the top three in league and make the playoffs,” said Dukas. The fourth-year coach is looking for a strong season from his two returning starters, Gil (7.7 point average) and Holmes (9.9). “We have one of the best point guard-center combinations in the county. We are looking for them to score a lot, both inside and outside,” Dukas said. Both will have to play up to their coach’s expectations if the Saints are to reach the playoffs. The Saints also have experience on their side and with that, they will be able to show a number of different looks. Dukas also believes the team benefited from playing in the Sunset League: “Our kids learned a lot from playing in that tough league. Last year, there were six teams that made the top 10 in Orange County at one point or another during the season. That experience will make us that much better this season.” Dukas is also counting on his other three returning lettermen, Cecy Ramirez, Castro and Nuth, to be imposing threats in the new league. “If we get off to a strong start, anything is possible,” Dukas said.
