Antelope Valley 24, Dominguez 7--Big plays and a stingy defense keyed third-seeded Antelope Valley’s victory at home. After a slow start, the Antelopes (8-2) got going when defensive lineman Jared Westberg picked up a fumble and ran 68 yards for a touchdown, which cut the Dons’ lead to 7-6 midway through the first quarter.
Following a missed field goal, Jermaine Lewis capped an 80-yard drive with a five-yard scoring run to put Antelope Valley ahead to stay, 13-7. Lewis finished with 59 yards in 18 carries, and his 83-yard kickoff return opened the second half and gave the Antelopes a 21-7 lead.
Antelope Valley plays Saugus in next week’s quarterfinals.
