Golden West Dominates Honors in Volleyball

Seven Golden West College volleyball players have been selected for the Orange Empire Conference all-star teams, and sophomore middle blocker Vanessa Dahl was chosen as the conference’s most valuable player.
Dahl had 75 kills and a .420 attack percentage.
She was joined on the first team by outside hitters Becca Foltz and Christine Helms and setter Lemia Astarabadi. Three other Golden West players received second-team honors: Jessica Redding, Michelle Wineke and Nicole Mordhorst.
Other first-team selections were Andrea Bill and Lori Bowers of Saddleback and Heather Daze and Heather Ruhl of Orange Coast.
Other second-team choices were Kelly Gallup of Saddleback, Yuki Inagaki of Rancho Santiago, Stephanie Pfeiffer of Fullerton and Amy Wilson of OCC.

Diane Lewis of Long Beach Millikan has been named interim softball coach at OCC for the 1995 season.
She succeeds Nick Trani, who moved to a similar position at Saddleback College. A permanent coach will be named in the spring, and Lewis said she plans to apply for the position. As a pitcher, Lewis led Millikan to the Southern Section 3-A championship in 1983. Trani was Millikan’s coach at the time.

Jim Doyle, an assistant coach at La Quinta, has been hired as baseball coach at Westminster, Athletic Director Stan Clark said. It’s his first head coaching position.
