Raveling Left a Mark on More Than a Game

Upon hearing that George Raveling was stepping down, I felt the instant loss that his absence will create for the USC program, the university and the community. The loss will be far more than the temporary void left in the head coaching position or a loss of recruits for the coming year. The loss that I am referring to is his remarkable spirit, optimism and leadership that he so enthusiastically shared with everyone he touched.
His strongly held beliefs about personal responsibility, achievement and success, as well as the athletic development of his players, has placed him as one of the most exceptional coaches ever to walk the sideline at USC.
