German Carrier Orders 16 Boeing Jets: Tour operator Hapag-Lloyd ordered the 737-800 twin-engine jetliners in a deal valued at about $700 million, Seattle-based Boeing said. Deliveries of the 189-seat aircraft are scheduled from 1998 to 2000. The 737-800, introduced in September, is a stretched version of Boeing’s 737-400. The 737 is the best-selling commercial airplane in history.
