NBA ROUNDUP : Phoenix Stretches Home Winning Streak to 14

Danny Manning scored 13 of his 22 points in the third quarter and Dan Majerle scored 19 as the Suns defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, 105-90, in Phoenix on Wednesday night.

Minnesota’s Donyell Marshall, making his first NBA start, led all scorers with 30 points and also had 13 rebounds. Teammate Isaiah Rider scored 25.

Former Laker A.C. Green scored 17 points for the Suns, who have won 14 consecutive regular-season games at home since March 18. The Suns also improved to 21-0 against Minnesota.

Chicago 94, San Antonio 92--Will Perdue’s dunk with less than a second remaining boosted the Bulls to victory over the Spurs in San Antonio.

Perdue caught a perfect pass from Scottie Pippen, who was double-teamed at the top of the key, and streaked in for the easy basket, giving Chicago its second consecutive road victory despite another 30-point effort from San Antonio’s David Robinson.

Robinson, who scored at least 30 points for the fourth consecutive game, also had 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots.

Former Clipper Ron Harper, who has struggled since joining the Bulls as a free agent, scored 27 points.

Philadelphia 109, Miami 96--Jeff Malone scored 12 of his game-high 31 points in the third quarter as the 76ers overwhelmed the Heat in Philadelphia.

Dana Barros made four of six three-pointers and had 24 points and 10 assists for the 76ers, who never trailed.

Glen Rice led Miami with 24 points, and John Salley had 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Boston 120, Seattle 93--Dominique Wilkins had his best game as a Celtic with 29 points and 10 rebounds as Boston pulled away in the third quarter and routed the SuperSonics in Boston.

Dino Radja scored 28 points and had 15 rebounds for the Celtics. The SuperSonics were led by Detlef Schrempf with 19 points.

NBA Notes

Chicago Bull Coach Phil Jackson, who called referee Hue Hollins’ performance in Saturday’s game with the Dallas Mavericks “brutish” and “irresponsible,” was fined $10,000 by the NBA. The Bulls lost the game, 124-120, in overtime. . . . Maverick forward Roy Tarpley was reactivated and might play Friday when Dallas plays host to the Sacramento Kings. Tarpley had been on the injured list since Nov. 3 because of bursitis in his left knee.

Charlotte Hornet forward Kenny Gattison was found to have a sprained cervical spine after being inadvertently elbowed by Cleveland’s Michael Cage and will be sidelined at least a week. The Hornets signed free-agent point guard Greg Sutton and waived forward Joe Courtney. . . . Miami Heat center Matt Geiger ruptured an eardrum when a charter flight carrying the team was forced to return to Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after the cabin depressurized. He is expected to play Friday . . . The Boston Celtics put starting point guard Sherman Douglas on the injured list and activated guard Tony Harris.
