Simi Valley Man Hit by Truck Dies

A 72-year-old Simi Valley man was killed Tuesday afternoon when he stepped off a curb and was struck by a small pickup on Los Angeles Avenue.
Jagat Gupta was rushed to Simi Valley Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival, said Officer Ken Stephenson of the Simi Valley Police Department.
According to Stephenson, Gupta was struck at about 5 p.m. as he began to cross Los Angeles near Emory Avenue by a pickup driven by Nestor Palacios of Panorama City.
No charges were immediately filed, and police were continuing to investigate, Stephenson said.
