COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Cypress Wins Third Women’s Soccer Title in a Row

After consecutive ties, the Cypress women’s soccer team defeated Irvine Valley, 2-0, Thursday to clinch its third consecutive Orange Empire Conference title.
Traci Osman and Pam Prine scored in the first half for the Chargers (18-0-2, 12-0-2), who have two games left in the regular season.
Cypress, which was tied by Palomar and Fullerton in its past two games, extended its conference unbeaten streak to 52 games. Irvine Valley is 10-5-1, 9-4-1.
In other conference women’s soccer:
Orange Coast 2, Fullerton 1--Danae Fielder and Polly Gifford scored second-half goals for host OCC (13-5, 10-4). Fullerton is 3-10-1, 3-9-1.
In Orange Empire men’s soccer:
Orange Coast 2, Fullerton 1--Athanasios Koubouras and Jim Hicks each scored goals for Orange Coast (9-4-4, 5-3-2).
In the Barstow men’s basketball tournament:
Cypress 91, Miramar NAS 69--Sophomore Matt Kenney scored 28 points, including six three-pointers, to lead Cypress (1-0) in the first game for first-year Coach Paul Bottiaux. Bottiaux replaced retired Coach Don Johnson.
