More than at any time in the recent past, voters making choices for statewide offices will be electing a field of newcomers.
Among the statewide contests below the rank of governor and U.S. senator, only the attorney general’s race features an incumbent seeking reelection.
Many of the candidates are seasoned politicians in other arenas, but six of the winners will be rookies in their elected posts. Any of these positions can be springboards for higher office. On this page and the following two pages is a look at these statewide races and the four minor parties with candidates on the ballot.
