WOODLAND HILLS — Dave Lins, the area’s leading Southern Section passer, threw two touchdown passes and completed 18 of 24 for 174 yards to lead the Celts to a 17-7 victory over Alemany in a Del Rey League game Friday night at Pierce College.
Crespi (5-3, 3-0 in league play) leads the league and is almost assured of a Division I playoff berth. Alemany (1-5-2, 0-3) was held to 13 yards rushing.
After a 28-yard field goal by Greg Boskin opened the scoring, Lins hit Marcos Solorzano from six yards with 12 seconds remaining in the first quarter to give Crespi a 10-0 lead. The ball was tipped, first by a Celt receiver, then by an Alemany defensive back before falling into the arms of Solorzano in the end zone. On the ensuing kickoff, Crespi’s Wayne Emerson recovered a fumble at the Alemany 24. Three plays later Lins hit Emerson from 11 yards, making the score 17-0 early in the second quarter.
After being shut out in its previous two games, Alemany finally scored on quarterback Rudy Pantoja’s one-yard run just before halftime. The touchdown was set up by Ben Lovato’s blocked punt.
