Hart Avoids Fright Night, 20-7

BURBANK — It figured on the Friday night before Halloween top-ranked Hart High would get its biggest scare of the season.
Hart’s 20-7 Foothill League victory over Burbank at Burroughs High was one that could have turned into an upset.
Hart (8-0, 3-0 in league play) didn’t lead by more than seven points against the Bulldogs (3-5, 0-2) until late in the game, when junior Ted Iacenda scored his third touchdown on a 12-yard run.
Burbank, which trailed, 13-7, at halftime, had its chances.
Four times the Bulldogs turned the ball over inside the Hart 20-yard line. Quarterback Jason Jonas threw his third interception of the game on third and goal from the Indian six with just over six minutes left.
Hart depended on Iacenda’s footwork because its powerful passing attack never got into sync.
Iacenda, who didn’t practice all week while nursing an ankle injury, rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns in 19 carries. He also caught a touchdown pass.
