CLIPPERS : Roberts Has Surgery on Achilles’ Tendon

Clipper center Stanley Roberts, who suffered a season-ending injury to his left Achilles’ tendon in Wednesday night’s 101-98 exhibition victory over the Atlanta Hawks, underwent surgery Friday at Daniel Freeman Marina Hospital.
Gene Osher, who performed the surgery, said Roberts will be sidelined six to nine months.
Roberts ballooned to more than 345 pounds after rupturing his right Achilles’ tendon last December and was out of shape when he reported to training camp this season.
However, Coach Bill Fitch thinks Roberts won’t repeat his mistake.
“He’s learned his lesson and I think this time his rehab will be better,” Fitch said. “I think he’ll be much a better player a year from now than what we would have got this year.”
