LANCASTER — A Van Nuys man was shot in the head and killed Thursday outside a convenience store here after arguing with his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend, authorities said Friday.
The name of the 35-year-old victim has not yet been released.
Clinton Underdown, 24, of Lancaster was arrested on suspicion of murder and is being held without bail at the Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Station, according to Deputy Irma Becerra.
The incident occurred about 8:45 p.m. at a 7-Eleven store in the 800 block of E. Avenue J, where Underdown, the woman and her baby were shopping, Becerra said.
The Van Nuys man, who authorities say tried to reconcile his relationship with the woman recently, followed her into the convenience store and an argument began. They exited the store and then the two men began arguing, Becerra said.
Underdown allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the other man in the head during their argument.
The victim died at the scene. No one else was injured in the incident.
Underdown and the woman with her baby walked to her mother’s home after the incident, Becerra said. Underdown was arrested there without incident, she said.
