COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Fullerton Trips Irvine Valley in Soccer

D.J. Buckley had two goals in Fullerton’s 4-0 victory over Irvine Valley in the Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer opener for both teams Tuesday at Fullerton.
Dan Miller and Salvador Hernandez added goals for the Hornets (3-3-1). Irvine Valley, the defending State champion, is 4-3-1.
In other Orange Empire Conference matches:
Orange Coast 2, Riverside 1--Matt Rillera and Athamasios Koubouras each scored in the second half to lead Orange Coast over host Riverside (3-4-3, 0-1-0). Koubouras’ goal came in the 87th minute, and the tying goal came in the 56th minute for the Pirates (5-1-2, 1-0-0).
Rancho Santiago 4, Golden West 3--Francisco Islas scored with about 15 minutes left to break a 3-3 tie for Rancho Santiago (6-1-2, 1-0). Islas has a conference-best 12 goals.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer:
Cypress 3, Palomar 0--Lori Van Herk had a goal and an assist for host Cypress (6-0, 4-0), which got its 11th consecutive shutout in conference games. Carlye Wind and Christine Tyler also scored for the Chargers.
Irvine Valley 4, San Diego City 2--Jennifer Baldwin, Jen Kopfstein, Diana Paul and Shannon Cunningham scored second-half goals for Irvine Valley (6-2, 3-1).
