Samsung Details Plans for Tijuana Plant: The Korean consumer electronics and appliances manufacturer released further details of the massive $500-million manufacturing complex that it plans to build on 65 acres in Tijuana that it acquired in April. In addition to television sets, the complex will manufacture videocassette recorders, microwave ovens, washing machines and cameras, according to the company. The complex will also include a research and development facility as well as a distribution center by the time it opens in 1996. Employment may someday total 4,000. Samsung, whose annual worldwide sales exceed $60 billion, is building the plant partly so its products qualify under local content rules of the North American Free Trade Agreement.
