CAMARILLO : Council to Consider Dawson-Petit Signal

In an attempt to ease rush-hour congestion through a southeast Camarillo intersection, the City Council tonight will consider spending nearly $85,000 to install a signal at the site.
The signal light, if approved by the council, will be installed at the intersection of Dawson Drive and Petit Street, said city traffic engineer Tom Fox.
“We have frustrated motorists ducking through neighborhood side streets to get around the tie-ups,” Fox said. “We hope the new light will ease the congestion and cut back on the traffic flowing through the nearby neighborhoods.”
Fox said Ventura-based Taft Electric Co. submitted the lowest bid at $84,738, and the city engineer’s staff has recommended that the company get the contract. If approved by the council, construction will start within the month, officials said.
The council will meet at 5 p.m. at City Hall, 601 Carmen Drive.
