Caterpillar Hit With 4 More Labor Complaints: The National Labor Relations Board has issued four unfair-labor-practice complaints against the Peoria, Ill.-based equipment maker, bringing the number of cases involving it to 101. The complaints are part of a longstanding fight with the United Auto Workers. Members at eight facilities have been on strike since June 21. Caterpillar Inc. has offered to submit each of the labor complaints to arbitration, a solution the union has rejected. The union charges the company has fired its members, interfered with its ability to file grievances and discriminated against workers who struck. Caterpillar contends the union is using the unfair-labor complaints to avoid reopening wage contract talks.
