SANTA ANA : Prostitution Sting Nets 48 Arrests
- Share via
Police announced Monday that they had arrested 48 people in a prostitution sting operation.
The undercover operation Friday night targeted men soliciting sex along a four-block stretch of East 1st Street, the site of numerous resident complaints about prostitution, said Santa Ana police Sgt. Ed Andrade.
Five female officers posed as prostitutes during the seven-hour operation. Men were arrested when they drove up and offered to pay for sex, Andrade said. They were being held at the city’s jail facility on suspicion of soliciting prostitution and had their cars impounded, he said.
The sweep in Santa Ana follows recent anti-prostitution operations in Costa Mesa and Anaheim.
