COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Perez Leads Southern California College to Victory

Jorge Perez scored two goals in the second half to lead Southern California College to a 2-0 water polo victory over visiting Hawaii Pacific on Saturday night.
Perez increased his Golden State Athletic Conference-leading point total to 15. Brian McDuffie and Nguyen Tran each had assists for the Vanguards (4-4).
In the Pomona-Pitzer water polo tournament:
Chapman 16, Occidental 10--Chapman (4-2) pounded Occidental in the first round of the tournament. Pat Karayan led Chapman with six goals.
Redlands 10, Chapman 9--With the score tied, 9-9, and 38 seconds left to play, Redlands scored to pull out the victory in first-round action.
Chad Roberts led Chapman’s scoring with four goals.
In the Husky women’s soccer invitational:
Portland 3, UC Irvine 1--Christine Awadallah scored an unassisted first-half goal and Stephanie Boes recorded nine saves for UC Irvine (4-3) at Seattle.
In the Menlo women’s volleyball tournament:
Chapman 3, Menlo 0--Chapman defeated Menlo, 16-14, 15-12, 15-8, in the championship match.
Lori Fuller led the team with 21 kills and was named tournament MVP. Shawna Parkinson added 16 kills and was named to the all-tournament team.
In Big West Conference volleyball:
New Mexico State 3, UC Irvine 2--Stacy Mitchell had 23 kills and Popi Edwards added 14 for UC Irvine (2-9, 1-3), which jumped to a 2-0 lead, then dropped the last three games, 15-9, 15-9, 3-15, 11-15, 7-15. Patty Zubiate and Maria Roth each had 16 kills for New Mexico State (3-9, 2-2).
In Golden State Athletic Conference volleyball:
Azusa Pacific 3, Southern California College 0--Tiara Ainuu had 10 kills as Azusa Pacific (9-2, 3-1) won three consecutive games, 15-2, 15-13, 15-7. Southern California dropped to 11-4, 2-2 in conference.
Fresno Pacific 3, Concordia 0--Fresno Pacific improves to 11-4. Concordia, which fell in three games, 15-10, 15-10, 15-6, dropped to 10-6.
In nonconference women’s volleyball:
St. Mary’s 3, Cal State Fullerton 1--Pine Reed had 19 kills and Heidi Robertson added 10 for Cal State Fullerton, which lost, 11-15, 15-13, 11-15, 7-15. CSF dropped to 0-12.
