NEW RELEASES : In Brief

* * Ken Peplowski, “Live at the Ambassador,” Concord Jazz. This conventional jam session has Peplowski on tenor and clarinet, but the high spots are Howard Alden’s guitar solos. It’s agreeable but less than essential listening. Sweets Edison pops in for three guest tracks. Main point of interest: the most cryptic song title of all time, Tal Farlow’s “I Brung You Finjans for Your Zarf.”
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor) to four (excellent).
