A strong rally by the the Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team fell short Friday night as the Matadors lost a five-game, nonconference match at the University of San Diego, 15-5, 15-5, 12-15, 12-15, 20-18.
Aimee Stone had 24 kills and 12 digs and Kathleen Shannon had 49 assists to lead Northridge (7-6), which could not overcome the 20th-ranked Toreros.
San Diego (9-4) was paced by Jennifer Wrightson (24 kills, 12 digs), Amy McMahon (12 kills, 10 blocks) and Luann Petix (53 assists).
HIGH SCHOOL WATER POLO
Westlake 13, Oxnard 7--David Brock scored 10 goals to lead the Warriors in a nonleague match at Oxnard.
Westlake scored five goals in the first quarter to take a 5-1 lead.
