Arroyo Grande 23, Calabasas 7--Running back Andy Sowell’s one-yard run behind the block of tight end Dan Ness midway through the second quarter started the scoring for the Eagles (3-0) at Calabasas.
Arroyo Grande’s racked up 258 yards in total offense, including 194 on the ground. Sowell had 57 yards in eight carries and Jimmie Pratt added 56 yards in 12 carries.
Calabasas quarterback Patrick Smith was sacked for a safety in the fourth quarter but teammate Adam Starr recovered a fumble at the Eagles’ 24-yard line on the ensuing free kick .
Three plays later, Smith found Zak Lovenson in the corner of the end zone for a nine-yard touchdown pass.
