The Children’s Bureau of Southern California will hold the first-ever Mighty Rubber Ducky Derby this weekend at the Wild Rivers water park in Irvine. Proceeds will benefit abused children in Orange County.
About 20,000 small rubber ducks will be released into the amusement park’s Lazy River for this Sunday’s race. Ducks can be “adopted” for $5 each. Those with winning ducks will receive a variety of prizes, including a 1967 Rolls Royce, trips to London and Disney World, and passes to Edwards movie theaters.
A reception featuring food and live music will be held at Wild Rivers on the day of the race. Tickets are $75 each.
The events are being sponsored by the Orange County section of the Children’s Bureau of Southern California, which offers child abuse programs, parent education classes and family counseling.
