SAN FERNANDO : Volunteers to Clean Park’s Playground

Volunteers are needed to help with a community cleanup of the Las Palmas Park tot lot Saturday.
“They should bring their work gloves,” said San Fernando Recreation and Community Service Director Ed Montan. Volunteers will sand and reseal the wooden playground equipment, which has splintered over the years.
The cleanup project starts at 9 a.m. and will wrap up about 5 p.m. Volunteers can work just an hour or two or work all day.
“If we can get 50 to 75 people to show up, that will be great,” Montan said.
The tot lot playground, which has swings, interconnecting tunnels, ramps, bridges and ladders, was built in 1991 by volunteers after a $45,000 fund-raising campaign. It is located at 505 S. Huntington St., San Fernando.
