The Burbank Public Library’s literacy program is seeking volunteers interested in tutoring English-speaking adults who need help with their reading skills.
There are no special credentials or qualifications needed to become a tutor other than competent reading skills. However, interested volunteers must attend a series of three training and orientation sessions beginning Thursday from 7 to 8:45 p.m. The second and third sessions will be held Saturday and Oct. 1, from 10:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., with a break for lunch.
The sessions will be at the Burbank Main Library, 110 N. Glenoaks Blvd., on the second floor.
About 30 people have signed up for the classes so far, but organizers said more tutors are needed. For information, call (818) 953-9727.
