Woodland Hills West routed an eight-team field to win the 1989 American Legion World Series in Millington, Tenn.
Woodland Hills, composed of players from El Camino Real and Canoga Park highs, became the first team from the region to win the Series title, a feat that was duplicated in 1992 by Newbury Oaks. The latter was composed of players from Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park highs.
