Flu Shots Postponed at County Clinics
Ventura County residents hoping to get an early flu shot from public clinics will have to turn to private doctors or wait until November, county health officials say.
Manufacturers delayed the statewide release of the shots, which were due to arrive at county clinics this month, the Ventura County Public Health Department announced Tuesday. No explanation for the delay was offered.
Senior citizens, young people and adults with chronic health problems are encouraged to be vaccinated to avoid serious health problems associated with the flu.
People on Medicare or MediCal can go to a private doctor to receive flu vaccine, county health officials said.
The Public Health Department has tentatively rescheduled flu clinics for November. More information on the clinics will be available later this month, officials said.
