Rewarding Project

On behalf of the Environmental Coalition, and as the project manager for the Arroyo Simi Restoration Grant in Moorpark over the last 15 months or so, I want to thank the hundreds of people and organizations who gave unselfishly of themselves to make this unique combination of volunteer and paid community effort a success.
The total effort of all combined was more than 7,518 hours. Of that, about 65% was donated (4,845 hours) and about 35% will be paid (2,673).
As I prepare my final report to the state Department of Water Resources, the agency which funded this grant, I am proud to announce that in addition to the $64,000 that will be paid to people from the grant funds, there has been a combined in-kind donation (in labor and materials) from all those who worked on the project of at least $152,861. As manager of what has therefore turned out to be a $216,816 project, I think that is outstanding.
It has been a difficult, time-consuming and rewarding project. We hope that everyone in the community is as proud as we are of the accomplishments.
