Prime Minister John Major will visit Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on Sunday and Monday en route to his first visit to South Africa under the new democratic regime.
He will meet Saudi King Fahd and, according to officials at No. 10 Downing St., discuss Persian Gulf security, the war in Yemen, the Middle East peace settlement and other issues.
Privately, Major is expected to continue to push leaders in Saudi Arabia and the Emirates to consider British products in their government purchases, reminding them of the role Britain played in the Gulf War.
