PALMDALE — Sheriff’s deputies were continuing their investigation Monday into a two-vehicle weekend accident that killed a 20-year-old Littlerock man and seriously injured a 17-year-old Palmdale youth.
The 17-year-old lost control of his van Sunday afternoon while heading north on 47th Street East in Palmdale, deputies said. The van slid across the road near the intersection of Avenue S and hit a pickup truck driven by Leslie Chenard, 34, of Hesperia, according to authorities. Chenard was unhurt.
Upon impact, both the driver of the van and his passenger, Pablo Beltran, 20, of Littlerock, were thrown from the vehicle. Neither was wearing a seat belt, deputies said.
Beltran was pronounced dead at Palmdale Hospital Medical Center. The 17-year-old was being treated at the hospital for hip and facial injuries, a nursing supervisor said.
