SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Downtown Roadwork Will Slow Traffic
- Share via
Patience will be a necessary virtue of downtown motorists starting Oct. 10, when paving work begins on one of two main roadways.
Crews are scheduled to work on Camino Capistrano between Del Obispo Street and Ortega Highway as part of the city’s preventive maintenance program. The $179,000 project is expected to be completed by Nov. 11.
According to city officials, the project will create severe traffic problems downtown. The roadwork will not start until 8:30 a.m. weekdays. Work will not be allowed on weekends.
Signs should soon be posted at five intersections urging motorists to take alternate routes on San Juan Creek Road and Stonehill Drive.
At least one lane in each direction on Camino Capistrano and Del Obispo Street will be open during construction, but some left turns along the affected sections may be prohibited.
