GRANADA HILLS — A 6-year-old girl remained in critical condition Sunday after she was struck by a car as she crossed the street, a hospital official said.
Authorities identified the child as Mary Beth Holliday of Granada Hills. She sustained severe head injuries and is on a life-support system, Los Angeles police said.
The girl was walking with her 8-year-old brother at about 9 a.m. Saturday and attempted to cross the street about in the 10400 block of Debra Avenue when she was struck by a car driven by Rozik Nazarian, 52, of Granada Hills, police said.
Her brother saw the crash from the sidewalk, police said.
Witnesses told police that Nazarian was driving about 45 m.p.h. and did not appear to see the girl dart into the street. Nazarian was not arrested, police said, but the investigation is continuing.
