This 1940 Warners Bros. production is part of the glorious Errol Flynn-Michael Curtiz cycle in which star Flynn (pictured with Brenda Marshall) and director Curtiz brought to the cinema some of its most enduring romantic adventures. This time Flynn is playing a seafarer based on Sir Francis Drake, and the redoubtable Flora Robson is a perfectly cast Queen Elizabeth. With a raft of beloved supporting players and a rousing Erich Wolfgang Korngold score (TMC, Sunday at 10:20 a.m.).
