Burroughs 14, Fairfax 12--Floyd Nolan blocked a 39-yard field-goal attempt with 3:42 to play to preserve the victory in Coach Robert dos Remedios’ debut.
Burroughs quarterback Scott Boldvich completed five of 13 for 49 yards and two touchdowns.
Boldvich hit Tony Listro with an eight-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to cap a 14-play, 79-yard drive to give Burroughs a 7-0 lead.
Burroughs scored on a four-yard pass from Boldvich to Mike Barrett midway through the third quarter to cap a five-play, 51-yard drive and give Burroughs a 14-6 lead. The drive was set up by a 38-yard kick return by Ken Knoop to open the second half.
Carlos Moreno gained 127 yards in 23 carries for Burroughs.
Fairfax scored with 8:33 to play to cut the Burroughs’ lead to 14-12.
Offensive pass interference was called on the two-point conversion attempt.
