CAMARILLO : Rapist Also May Be Linked to Robberies

Detectives investigating the rape of two women in a Camarillo frozen yogurt shop said Friday that they have identified no suspects but believe the attack may be connected to other robberies.
A 17-year-old girl and 19-year-old woman were raped by a man who robbed the Carmen Drive yogurt shop Aug. 29. After taking cash from the register, he forced the two store employees into a back room, where he sexually assaulted them.
Ventura County Sheriff’s Detective Dan Thompson said the description of the assailant appears to match the description of a suspect in several restaurant robberies in Thousand Oaks and Goleta.
The suspect is described as a white male between 18 and 23, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds. During the attack at the yogurt shop he was wearing a long-sleeved green shirt, dark baggy trousers and black combat boots.
A reward of $1,000 is being offered by the Ventura County Crime Stoppers Program for information leading to an arrest and criminal conviction.
