After a disappointing season, Lawson, who spends his spare time surfing, cranked up the intensity this summer. “It will be interesting to see if it pays off,” he said. The Eagles will need tenacity to make the playoffs.

The Knights once again are the team to beat by a consensus of league coaches, but the going may be more difficult than last season. Although 22 lettermen return, only five were starters. Defense is the team’s strength.
