FAST FACT
Antelope Valley has played in bowl games in six of the past seven seasons, including the past four. Overall, it is 3-9-1 in bowl games.
OUTLOOK
A 55-man roster with only 12 sophomores in a tough conference does not generally make for a winning mix, but Carder says the Marauders’ inexperience will be offset in other areas. “We have one of the quickest teams ever,” said Carder, one of the winningest junior college coaches in the country. “We’ll try to throw the ball more this year.” Carder has three quarterback candidates--Sabadin, Haro and Gleich--to direct the double-slot, option offense. Searcy (43 receptions for 1,075 yards at Quartz Hill High last season) provides a reliable target and Miller (41 carries for 323 yards and four touchdowns in 1993) will lead the ground attack.
