VAN NUYS : Funds to Prevent New Flood at College OKd
- Share via
Faulty water pressure regulators that caused flooding at Valley College will be repaired, thanks to a measure approved this week by the Los Angeles Community College District.
The district’s board of trustees voted unanimously to authorize $30,000 to replace eight water pressure regulators. The contract, passed under emergency resolution, was awarded to Levko Plumbing Co.
On Aug. 11, two water pressure regulators failed at the Van Nuys community college, causing utility tunnels to flood. The water level in the tunnels rose to within an inch of electrical transformers.
The work is expected to be completed during the Labor Day weekend in order to prevent failure of the temporary repairs and to avoid endangering the electric transformers again.
