OUTLOOK
The Friars finished fifth in the Sunset League, the highest finish among members of the new league. Many coaches pick Servite to win the first league title. With 28 returning lettermen, the Friars are deep in experience. The offensive line might dominate. Toner believes Lucey is among the league’s best. Strong and agile, Lucey anchors a line that includes Hawkins and Stotlar, who are also solid. Even if the line doesn’t always move people, Bedard and Patti will get their yards. Both are powerful runners who know how to break free. There is also talent on defense. Magliocco and Paul will cause problems for even the best offenses. Hoegler provides support against the run and Levecke is skilled in covering receivers. Salerno also shows promise.
