‘Under Siege’
Director Andrew Davis and writer J.F. Lawton’s 1992 hit is a high-tech thriller that takes its simple hook--â€Die Hard†on a battleship--and keeps pouring on the blood and glitz, trying to blast you out of your seat. The hero, martial-arts star Steven Seagal, is so steely and robust that he looks like he could kill with his eyebrows. The heavies, Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey (both pictured), are a pair of wild clowns who crack jokes between massacres. But so does Seagal. Everything about this movie is over-scaled, over-brutal and full of holes--yet there’s something cheerfully wacky about it (HBO Sunday at 8 p.m.).
