SEPARATING THE MEN FROM THE BOYS
As an employee in the Hospitality Industry, I must chide S. Irene Virbila for her woefully outdated terminology (“The Drive Way,” Restaurants, July 24). Does she realize, when mentioning the “busboy,” that these workers are often grown men, many with wives and children? I find “busman” or “busser” to be far more appropriate. The era in which people referred to adults as “boys” is one I’m sure we all hope has long since come to a close.
