DOWNTOWN : Apartment Owner to Face Slum Charges
A 38-year-old Encino man is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Los Angeles Municipal Court on 22 counts of slum violations at his South Hope Street apartment building, officials said.
Jack Youdai and his company, Advance Project Management Inc., were named on the misdemeanor complaint filed by the city attorney’s office last month, said Deputy City Atty. Lawrence P.V. Punter. The charges were filed after the city’s housing task force inspected the building at 1355 S. Hope St. between May 2 and June 16.
Inside the four-story, 56-room brick apartment complex, inspectors discovered rodent and cockroach infestations, defective plumbing, missing and defective smoke detectors and damaged walls, the deputy city attorney said. Youdai could not be reached for comment.
