SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Los Rios Street Road Work OKd
The Planning Commission has approved the reconstruction of a section of historic Los Rios Street, but the money for the work is not yet available.
The commission’s action this week calls for about $186,000 worth of work to reconstruct 1,800 feet of Los Rios Street and install new drains, according to city engineering officials.
Commissioners also approved closing a narrow L-shaped intersection between Mission and Los Rios streets to traffic.
Tom Tomlinson, the city’s planning director, said the road improvements probably won’t be made for a few years. He said the city has money to pay only for design work.
The City Council, which must give final approval, is scheduled to consider the project Sept. 20.
