Children and adults can walk or run in the sixth annual Spirit of Irvine Run on Saturday to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Orange County.
Registration opens at 6 a.m. at the Irvine Medical Center on Sand Canyon Avenue near Alton Parkway.
The event begins with a 5-kilometer run at 7:30 a.m., which will followed by a 10-kilometer run at 8 a.m. The Kids’ Fun Run begins at 9 a.m.
Entry fees are $12 ($18 with a T-shirt) for adults and $8 for children. All children who walk or run will get a T-shirt.
Organizers will provide participants with refreshments, and awards will go to winners of the 5-kilometer and the 10-kilometer races.
The event is sponsored in conjunction with the Spirit of Irvine Festival on Saturday and Sunday at Heritage Park.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants wishes to terminally ill children. It hopes to raise $10,000 from the event, said Marlene Eckert, a foundation spokeswoman.
